John Cleese meets Dr Madan Kataria founder of Laughter Yoga, discovers Laughter Yoga and visits a Laughter Yoga session in an Indian jail.

It has been shown that laughter has a positive effect on health. Endorfine is released and stress hormons are regulated making us feel more relaxed. This is supposed to lead to a better immunal system and more energy. It is believed by certain scientists that it does not even matter if the laughter is sincere or not.

These ideas brought Indian Med. Dr. Madan Kataria to think about starting what is known as laughter yoga. During laughter yoga, you start off with breathing sessions and go on to practise certain type of laughs. After a while you start laughing naturally!

Here is an example of how it might sound during laughter yoga, this practise start with a “start-engine” fake laugh but in the end most of the participants laugh naturally.
